Revolutionary lighter race suits will be issued for Verstappen, Perez, and Ricciardo in 2023. Starting with the 2023 Formula 1 season, both Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will be wearing a brand new Sparco ‘Superleggera’ suit as well as lighter boots and new gloves.
The famous Sparco racewear brand will join the Red Bull Racing team as an official supplier on a multi-year contract, allowing Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez to wear revolutionary high-tech ultra-lightweight suits and boots.
In the early 2000s, Sparco created the Superleggera suit with a compound that not only complied with the FIA 8856-2000 standard, but was the lightest suit of its time, weighing around 20% less than comparable suits from rival brands.
The new suit to be worn by Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez from 2023 has been created as a natural evolution of this historic Superleggera suit. In addition to these ‘ultra light’ suits, Verstappen and Perez will also be equipped with Sparco X-Light + boots, Arrow Biotech gloves and Sparco underwear.
The race team will be equipped with a dedicated range of products derived from Sparco racing suits and Tide Meca gloves to meet all the comfort and safety requirements of the team’s specific design and performance needs throughout the year.
“Ensuring our drivers and race team are as safe as possible is always our top priority,” said Christian Horner, Red Bull’s team boss.
“Sparco has been at the forefront of racewear safety for over four decades and we are delighted to welcome them to the team. The fact that their dedication to safety goes hand in hand with the pursuit of performance and lightness, key considerations in racing, makes the collaboration even more exciting.”
Since 1977, Sparco has been developing and manufacturing equipment for the racing environment and currently has more than 300 partner teams in various global motorsport competitions (F1, Indy, WRC, Nascar, Dakar and many others) and customers around the world who adopt its products .
