Red Bull unveils RB16B F1 car to be driven by Verstappen and Perez in 2021

One of the most eagerly anticipated cars of the 2021 launch season has broken through. Red Bull unveils the RB16B to be used by Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez this season.

The new car will attempt to build on the solid foundations of its two Grand Prix-winning RB16 predecessors – with Red Bull hoping the RB16B in the hands of the new Verstappen-Perez driver pairing will bring the team back to the championship title for the first time since 2013 this season .

The RB16B will also be something of a swan song for Honda in F1, with Red Bull taking over the operation of the Japanese manufacturer’s units from 2022 – supported by an engine stop recently agreed between the teams and currently set to last until the end of 2024.

Perez and Verstappen will put the new car to the test at Silverstone on Wednesday, before running it on March 12-14, two weeks before the season opener Bahrain Grand Prix on March 28.

However, after Red Bull caused a stir in December when they signed non-contractual Sakhir Grand Prix race winner Perez to replace Alex Albon on the team, the Mexican will test in an older Red Bull to bring him with him before the Bahrain test the team’s systems up to date.

In the meantime, Albon will continue to play a role as test and reserve driver in the team.
