Ranking of the worst crashes in the 2021 F1 season

The 2021 season has featured some scary crashes

The 2021 F1 season is expected to go down as one of the best in recent history. The action on the track was addicting, with fighting up and down.

While the battle between Mercedes and Red Bull was the main draw in 2021, we’ve also seen close duels for every available point. As a result, some of these fights have resulted in spectacular incidents on the route.

It is proof of the current Formula 1 safety standards that the drivers were able to leave safely despite some serious accidents. The “Halo” device in particular has helped prevent serious head injuries in many cases.

In this article, we take a look at the three worst falls of the 2021 season yet.

One of the most spectacular falls of recent times was the encounter between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton at the British Grand Prix. Hamilton walked side by side into the fearsome Copse corner, marked Verstappen, and sent him into the barrier at very high speed.

The Dutchman had to be hospitalized for possible concussion tests after a 52-gram impact. The fall also had an impact on the F1 title race as Hamilton closed the gap on Verstappen by 25 points.

# 2 Valtteri Bottas and George Russell at Imola

This was a clash between two drivers who were fighting for the same seat at Mercedes at the time. Williams Racing’s George Russell was attempting a fairly ambitious move on the outside of Valtteri Bottas’ Mercedes when the two cars rubbed the wheels and cracked violently.

Fortunately, none of the drivers were injured. Bottas was slightly out of breath after the incident, but George Russell, feeling deprived of a point chance for his team, was absolutely angry with Finn.

Finally, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff intervened and publicly reprimanded George Russell and brought the situation between the two drivers under control.

# 3 Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in Monza

It’s no coincidence that in a season of one of the tightest fights for the F1 championship, two of the top three incidents include top title contenders. In this low-speed crash between the two drivers at Monza’s Turn 1, Max Verstappen’s Red Bull climbed onto Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes.

Both drivers were able to exit their battered cars when McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo scored his first win for the team.

It was later revealed that Hamilton had to undergo a medical examination after one of the Red Bull’s wheels crashed over his head. For Max Verstappen, the fall resulted in a starting place penalty after the race at the Russian Grand Prix.
