Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner had a front row seat in what was arguably the best championship fight in years, when Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen contested it.

With a view to this year’s title race between two of the currently best drivers in the paddock, two incidents stand out in particular. The first was the visibly violent crash that Verstappen suffered at Silverstone after coming into contact with Hamilton on the first lap, and the second was when the Red Bull driver landed on Hamilton’s Mercedes at Monza.

Christian Horner commented on the Silverstone incident on Channel 4:

“It got pretty tasty on the Wellington Straight and then of course the accident. It was a serious accident, 51G. [It] Broke the seat, I think it knocked him out, and it was definitely the biggest accident of his career. “I am very happy with P2⃣! It was not easy to manage the tires throughout the race, but we have the maximum. Together with @SChecoPerez on the podium, it will crown a good day for the team

Christian Horner commented on the incident in Monza and said the crash between the two drivers was nothing more than a racing accident.

In response to criticism Verstappen faced in Monza for failing to check Hamilton out shortly after getting off the bus, Horner said:

“I think it’s very different. Max at Silverstone hit the wall at 51G at 160 mph. [He] passed out and flown to the hospital. There is a huge difference between that and the incident [at] Monza, where he could feel Lewis reversing while he was still in the car and the engine was still running. He knew Lewis was absolutely fine. In fact, the medical car didn’t even see the need to visit the crime scene. I think it was a completely different scenario. “

With six races to go, Christian Horner has a lot to do, as Mercedes seems to have an advantage on Red Bull when it comes to pace. If Red Bull Max can’t provide a title-capable car, we could see heads rolling in the team.
