It’s only fitting that the Mexican Grand Prix, one of the final races in the Formula 1 calendar, takes place in Mexico City.

The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is a world-renowned track and this week’s race should be exciting with Max Verstappen as the odds favorite.

Last week, Verstappen dominated the United States Grand Prix at Austin, Texas and his odds of winning in Mexico have shortened this week to -160.

His teammate Sergio Perez, who is a Mexican native, has seen his odds lengthen to +900.

Perez, who also races for the Red Bull Racing F1 team, has had a successful career in the sport with three podium finishes and one pole position. Mexican fans will be rooting for him to bring home a win on his home turf.

Perez’s reputation in F1 has been built on opposite approaches to Grand Prix racing. On the one hand, he is a punchy combatant who wrestles his way through the pack and into the points. Never afraid to add a bit of spice to his on-track encounters, even his team mates don’t always escape the Mexican’s heat.

Then on the other hand, Perez is a smooth operator, a master at managing tires to eke out extra performance and give him the upper hand on strategy.

A firm favorite on the grid after his time with Sauber, McLaren, Force India and Racing Point, Perez has matured into an analytical racer and team player.

A proud countryman, the Guadalajara gunslinger has amassed more points than any other Mexican in the history of F1. In Sakhir 2020 he also matched hero and compatriot Pedro Rodriguez by taking the checkered flag in first – a performance that landed him a seat with title contenders Red Bull.

With strong support to Max Verstappen’s 2021 championship-winning campaign, Perez also added another victory to his own tally. More wins may not be assured, especially with Verstappen as team mate, but Perez working hard and racing with his heart are.

Betting odds will always change leading up to the race, but at the moment Verstappen remains the favorite while Perez could be an underdog worth betting on in Mexico.

But while Perez may be the fan favorite in Mexico, Verstappen remains the top betting pick as he continues to dominate this season.

We’ll find out tomorrow if Perez can overcome odds and come out on top at his home Grand Prix. He’s going to be motivated to take down Verstappen in front of his countrymen.

The Mexican Grand Prix is set to take place on October 30th and promises thrilling competition between these two drivers.

Mexico GP Free Pick

We love the hometown feel of Perez taking the Mexico GP, even though Verstappen is undeniably the favorite going into Sunday’s race, we’re betting on Checo as the outright winner.

Sure, we could keep going with Max Verstappen (-150) as he’s been dominant this year having won 13 races already.

This is Checo’s home track and the home crowd can be worth quite a bit of speed with the cheering.

There’s also the fact that Checo has been right with Verstappen in speed at both FP1 and FP2.

There’s two more chances after this for Verstappen to get the single-season win record but denying Perez a win in his home country won’t be on the checklist for Red Bull this week.

Take Sergio Perez at +900 for the outright win. Putting down a $100 bet will net you $800 (or a total of $900 in winnings).
