Red Bull’s Formula 1 and footballing worlds combined as David Coulthard took Emil Forsberg for a spin in a Red Bull two-seater.

The Red Bull drink is what Red Bull GmbH put on the map, but these days the company holds a wide range of sporting interests.

And the paths of two of those sporting institutes crossed in Leipzig ahead of Red Bull-owned RB Leipzig’s opening home game of the Bundesliga season.

David Coulthard, who joined Red Bull Racing in Formula 1 back in 2005, claiming the team’s first podium in Monaco a year later, headed to the city of Leipzig to meet a star of the RB Leipzig team.

The star in question was Forsberg, who joined Coulthard in the 720-horsepower Oracle Red Bull Racing F1 two-seater, a converted Formula 1 car powered by a V10 engine, for a unique city tour.

Both excited and surprised looks adorned the faces of passers-by as Coulthard took Forsberg for a drive after training, the Swedish national team star pointing out some of his favorite places to his Scottish chauffeur.

“It’s the closest you can really get to giving a passenger the sensation of what it is to drive a Grand Prix car,” said Coulthard.

“This is my second time in Leipzig. It’s a cool, young university city. There’s just an energy and a vibe here that really makes it feel it’s coming up.”

Forsberg added: “It was an incredible experience for me to drive through Leipzig with David in a Formula One car. You experience something like that maybe once in a lifetime.

“The feeling and the sound in the racing car are insane – a pure adrenaline rush.”
