Did Aston accidentally reveal its upcoming hypercar?
Is the brand new Aston Martin Valkyrie already in sight? Well, it looks like Aston inadvertently teased a very special track-only version of the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
We already know a lot about Adrian Newey’s Valkyrie, although it may not be the only variant of this super rare exotic the company is looking to bring to market. Behold, a hypercar that Aston has yet to unveil. An anonymous person gave Jalopnik a tip and posted a screenshot of the Aston Martin website showing a rendering of an unusual-looking Valkyrie that has never been seen before.
The car was leaked online from Aston Martin’s own website. It appears that Aston inadvertently made the future Valkyrie model available to the public via the not-so-private URL “Private Area”.
The car looks a lot more aggressive and looks like it has a little more downforce than the standard car.
It looks wilder than the normal Valkyrie and completely different from the AMR Pro. Could it be an updated version of the AMR Pro?
Jalopnik reached out to Aston Martin for comment on the car and, as usual, received the company’s standard response that they would not speculate about future products. In addition, this private URL no longer works.
Even then, from this rendering alone, we can clearly see a number of changes to the regular Valkyrie. Well, we can’t really call a Valkyrie, REGULARLY, can we? One of the most obvious changes is the dramatic wing at the tail, which is now higher and much sweeter than the AMR Pro.
We can also see a new shark fin above the engine bay. We wonder if this has anything to do with Mercedes Benz’s recent investment in the UK automaker. Merc’s AMG Project One also embodies a similar shark fin design.
It also appears that this fierce new Valkyrie has a shorter hood that extends all the way to the windshield. This is due to the lowered front end design, which now carries a new splitter and has narrower attachment points.
The front fenders of the car have also received several revisions, which now have a steeper and a significantly larger cutaway from the rest of the body. The cutouts on the fenders also make them appear much higher. The almost closed turbofan-style wheels complete the transformation.
The Valkyrie, with its 11,000 RPM Cosworth V12, is still on the way if the company keeps to the schedule announced in February. The very first customer deliveries are set to begin soon.
If we remember, Aston Martin co-developed the Valkyrie with Red Bull Advanced Technologies, and it took a long time. It was first presented to the public in 2017 by the then Redbull F1 drivers Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricardo. The hypercar should also compete in the endurance race at Le Mans.
In due course there were some changes in the rules and Mercedes-Benz eventually bought shares in the British automaker. Aston Martin thus entered Formula 1 as a competitor to Red Bull, and suddenly the relationship between the two partners deteriorated.
Whatever the case, hopefully we’ll know more about the mysterious hypercar before the end of the year. It is likely that this new variant of the Valkyrie will go on sale later this year.
