Arjun Maini scores double points at the DTM Red Bull Ring

The Indian racing driver Arjun Maini achieved his best result so far in the DTM with a 6th place in race 1 at the Red Bull Ring. He followed with a 7th place in race 2 and collected valuable points.

· Maini finished sixth in his career in race 1

· Reached 7th place in Race 2

· The goal is a podium place

Race 1

Maini’s early season problems seem to be in the rearview mirror and he’s been enjoying an upward trend lately. He picked up his on the previous lap at the Nürburgring first DTM career points.

He also got off to a strong start at the Red Bull Ring and finished the first practice session with the fourth fastest time. He had to skip the second session because of an engine problem. However, this didn’t bother him too much as he was able to qualify for race 1 in 3rd place.

Maini caught a strong escape and held position in the early stages of the race after a few close fights. However, he lost some time due to a slow pit stop. After Maini had been fighting for several laps with Alex Albon (who is also the F1 substitute driver for Red Bull Racing), Maini finished 6th overall.

Race 2

It wasn’t a particularly strong second qualifying for Maini and he finished 10th on the grid with his Mercedes-AMG GT3. But a strategically planned pit stop armed him to fight for the order and he finished race 2 in 7th place.

In total, Maini collected 15 points at the Red Bull Ring, making this his most productive weekend in the championship to date. “For me personally it was a great weekend,” said Maini.

He adds that he feels more confident in the coming laps and now has a podium place in his eye: “The misfortune of the previous races is now well behind me and I’m starting to get a real feel for what GT cars are like travel. The first half of the season was of course a learning experience for me and I now go into the races more confidently and the results reflect the same. “

“GetSpeed has also prepared extremely well for the DTM and I think we are well positioned to end the championship well. The goal for the rest of the season has to be a podium, and I believe the team and I are capable of achieving that goal. “

The next on the DTM calendar is the race in Assen from September 18th to 20th. As always, all qualifying sessions and races will be streamed live Autocar India YouTube channel.
