After a disastrous season-opening week in Bahrain, Red Bull has fought back to the tune of a Max Verstappen victory and a Sergio Perez fourth-place finish at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen now sits third in the Drivers’ Championship standings ahead of the season’s third race — the Australian Grand Prix, which takes place at the 5,279-kilometer Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne.

The race is returning to the Formula 1 schedule after a two-year hiatus in 2020 and 2021 and takes place at 3 pm local time (aka 1:00 am ET) on Sunday, April 10.

Will Max Verstappen be the betting favorite this week after his win in Saudi Arabia or are the oddsmakers still behind Charles Leclerc and the pace of Ferrari?

Australian Grand Prix favourites

Max Verstappen (+120)

After a worst-case scenario week to open the season in Bahrain, Verstappen claimed his first victory of the new season at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and did it in impressive fashion — starting from fourth on the grid behind the two Ferraris and his Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez.

While the Ferrari appears to have the faster lap pace in the season’s early stages, Verstappen’s race pace paired with his championship experience paid dividends en route to a much-needed bounceback win.

He enters the week a slim +120 favorite over Charles Leclerc.

Charles Leclerc (+150)

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc enters the week in the No. 2 spot, available at +150.

Leclerc started the year off with a comfortable win at the Bahrain Grand Prix and is proving to be the biggest threat to a Max Verstappen title defense — currently holding a 45-25 lead in the Drivers’ Championship standings through two races.

He finished second in Saudi Arabia behind Max but will be in contention for pole again this week with how quick the Ferrari has been.

Carlos Sainz Jr (+800)

Rounding out the Top 3 is Leclerc’s teammate, Carlos Sainz Jr, available to win at +800.

The young Spaniard sits second in the Drivers’ standings behind Leclerc and already has two podium finishes to his name in the new-look Ferrari.

The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 odds is by simply picking the winner of a particular race. Other popular F1 betting options include on which car/constructor will win and whether or not a particular race car driver will end up on the podium with a Top-3 finish.

F1 race odds usually look like this:

This means that on a $100 bet, you’ll stand to profit $1,400 if Perez wins that particular race. If one driver is especially dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) ahead of that driver’s odds like this:

This means that you would need to bet $175 to win $100 on Hamilton winning the race.
