Williams’ co-founder talks about Nico Rosberg and Keke Rosberg
The son of a world champion can put a lot of pressure on a driver. Nico had to experience that when he reached Formula 1. Head had worked with both of them and reveals what brought them together and what separated them.
On an episode of the Beyond the Grid podcast, he said, “Nico certainly had some of his father’s traits, but I wouldn’t say he was that kind of squash kicker. Nico was probably, I mean, in the area in which he grew up, his family lived in Monaco, I must have known a lot of drivers, successful drivers down in Monaco. “

“I would say that Nico was more of a calculating, thinking driver. Nico was busy with data, Keke didn’t have time to look at the data if we had any data at that point. There were certainly some similarities, but I’d say Nico wasn’t quite like his father when it came to throwing the car around in the same way. But when Nico drove, the tires weren’t as robust as they were in Keke’s time, ”he concluded.

Keke appreciates Nico’s commitment to being world champion
As the son of a world champion, Nico was under a lot of pressure. However, the German driver won the title in 2016 after an intense battle with his then teammate at Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton. Rosberg Sr. was proud and admired his son’s diligence to be world champion.
As quoted from The Guardian, he said, “It is remarkable and I admire him for his mental strength and commitment. We have to remember that the engagement of someone like Nico is 110% and that has nothing to do with how I became a Formula 1 driver. “
“I don’t think a lot of outside people, including the media, appreciate the effort that goes into it,” concluded Keke.
