Just two weeks after the shocking announcement that he was retiring from motorsport, we finally have an idea why Valentino Rossi pulled the plug. On Wednesday, August 18, all-time motorcycle racer GOAT announced that he and his partner Francesca Sofia Novello are expecting their first child. We’re waiting for a girl. “

In typical Rossi fashion, the reveal was a lighthearted affair, with VR46 donning a doctor’s gown and stethoscope for the reveal. Of course, the ruse was helped by the fact that Rossi’s nickname is “The Doctor” – presumably because of the way he surgically dissected some of his early opponents – and that he managed to get a pretty official looking hospital badge for the selfies to create, complete with the little comic book meme he uses in many of his social media promotions.
There is already speculation about a family dynasty that will dominate motorcycle racing of the future. Rossi was of course busy with his VR Riding Academy, which is shaping young Italian riders into the MotoGP stars of the future. Franco Morbidelli and Francesco Bagnaia, both touted as the future stars of the premier class of motorcycle racing, are graduates of the VR Academy; and Moto2, its feeder class, is packed with VR alumni.

And of course Rossi’s own half-brother Luca Marini – fresh from his best position in the most recent Austrian race, in which he defeated his better-known brother for the first time – is a graduate. So there can be no doubt that with her nature and caring, Rossi Jr. will have everything she needs to become the first woman to dominate motorcycle racing, including what is believed – if genetics really have a role in this one Business plays? – a mischievous pleasure to humiliate your opponent?
As for Rossi’s future, it is speculated that Valentino will end up with racing cars somewhere. Exactly what types of cars are is open to speculation. He famously swapped rides with Lewis Hamilton, who drove Mercedes’ F1 racing driver, and was notoriously offered a position on the Ferrari racing team (which he declined to continue driving motorcycles). One ambition that is still burning brightly is his desire to win the Le Mans 24 Hours.
