Will not give up the F1 title fight with Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton: Valtteri Bottas

Emilia Romagna GP: Bottas insists that Mercedes' F1 dominance is over

Valtteri Bottas now had a couple of uncomfortable race weekends because he couldn’t get any points in Monte Carlo and Baku. After 6 laps the Finn is in 6th place in the drivers’ standings and is 58 points behind leader Max Verstappen.

In Monaco, Bottas had to accept another pit stop mistake that forced him to retire. The Finn pulled into the pit lane and never came out again because of a pinched wheel nut on his right front tire.

In Azerbaijan, the Finnish diver fought for his pace all weekend and finished the race in P12 right behind the two Alfa Romeos. Valtteri Bottas, meanwhile, refuses to take advantage of the “loser option” by giving up the fight for the drivers’ championship.

What did Valtteri Bottas say?

Valtteri Bottas had to accept two retirements in the first 6 races. Fortunately, there was good news for the Finn as both Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton failed to score and he did not lose any further ground in the championship.

“The mental strength was definitely tested. It wasn’t the easiest way to start with two DNFs off Azerbaijan.

“So yeah, I’d say there have been setbacks and it’s about how to recover from them and how to move forward. The loser’s option is to give up and I won’t, ”said Valtteri Bottas.

“I’m still mentally very strong and I know that I have a long, long season ahead of me and that there will definitely be a lot of good fights and hopefully a lot of victories. I firmly believe in myself and for us as a team that we still have time to do good. “

Bottas in a Mercedes finished second in the constructors’ championship

Mercedes had a tough time lately and couldn’t get more than 7 points from the last two races. Silver Arrows slipped to P2 in the Constructors’ Championship after losing 26 points to Red Bull.

“We will stick together, there is no doubt. We have a great team spirit and we know how important it is to stick together as a team, ”added Valtteri Bottas, who finished in the best P3 three times this season.

“We definitely have a big fight ahead of us with Red Bull, and on some tracks it seems like it is with Ferrari too. Such things only motivate us more.
