McLaren driver Lando Norris is looking forward to the United States Grand Prix this weekend as his team battles for third place in the Constructors’ Championship.
Looking ahead to the race weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas, the Briton hopes his team can recover from an average performance in Turkey.
Before the race weekend, Norris said:
“I can’t wait to be back in America this weekend, where we’ll try to recover from the result in Turkey. Austin is known for its great atmosphere and I am sure that it will be the same again this year as the fans are super passionate. The battle in the constructors’ championship continues, so we have to keep pushing. “
Lando Norris is hoping to improve his only US GP result
In contrast to team-mate Daniel Riccardo, Norris’ experience on the COTA track in 2019 only includes one race. The Brit started the US Grand Prix from eighth on the grid in 2019 and finished seventh. However, given his adaptability and performance this year, one might expect the young Briton to do significantly better this time around.
Regarding the route, Norris said:
“COTA is one of the most exciting tracks on the calendar. Although the track has elements of other F1 tracks, it still feels like a unique place to race. “
Explaining his virtual foray on the racetrack last year, he said:
“I took part in a virtual race around COTA with the Arrow McLaren SP team during the pandemic last year, which was a lot of fun, but I can’t wait to actually drive an F1 car there after two years . ”
