Yesterday, Belle Isle Park hosted the second race of the Detroit Grand Prix of the IndyCar series. Although Grosjean showed good pace, a fire in his left brake ended his race on lap 59.
While the fire was small, there were flashbacks to that terrible accident last year in Bahrain. However, the Frenchman’s reaction this time was exceptional. With a brilliant show of courage, Grosjean hurried to one of the Marshal’s side of the road and used a fire extinguisher to try to put out the fire.
Although the AMR security team got to the car on time, Grosjean could also be seen rushing with the workers to rescue his car. Grosjean retweeted IndyCars’ update on his accident yesterday with a simple statement. “My racing cars are close to my heart,” said the Frenchman.
Although yesterday’s race was Grosjean’s fifth start in the IndyCar series, it brought the world another memorable moment ahead of his Mercedes F1 test on June 29th.
