Williams driver George Russell looks forward to a positive change in Formula 1 after serving as a director on the board of directors of the Grand Prix Drivers Association.

Russell is entering his third season in Formula 1 and will take on the role after Romain Grosjean left F1 for IndyCar. He joins board colleague Sebastian Vettel and chairman Alex Wurz on the board.

The GPDA, founded in 1961, represents the interests of drivers, especially in the area of safety, and the 23-year-old explained why he was determined to take on the role.

“First of all, I think I wanted to take on this role because I think what the GPDA has done for so many years has been great for the sport when we had our debriefings between all the drivers, which was very common in 2019 – Probably every two Grand Prix would stay once after the drivers briefing and all talk about certain issues or ways we could improve the sport, ”said Russell.
