Four-time F1 world champion Vettel teamed up with Aston Martin for the 2021 season after leaving Ferrari at the end of last year.
Vettel has spearheaded the team’s efforts so far this year, finishing second in Azerbaijan and taking almost double the points from teammate Lance Stroll.
Aston Martin announced last year that Vettel had signed a deal for “2021 and Beyond,” but the team has yet to formally confirm its driver plans for the next season.
Team boss Otmar Szafnauer said last weekend in Zandvoort that it was “not complicated” with Vettel, but “just the timing in the contract when we have to sign the negotiations and then move on”.
After a busy week of driver announcements with Valtteri Bottas, George Russell and Alexander Albon confirming all seats for 2022, Vettel said he had “no news” to share.
“I’m talking to the team, of course, and I think we’ll have an answer very soon,” said Vettel.
“But no news at this point.”

Asked why there is no news. Vettel said he “never really talked much about contracts,” and he “can’t give you much more insight” into why the talks were going.
“As I said, we talk to each other,” added Vettel.
“I really enjoy working with the team. I think the atmosphere is great and I think the future of this team is very, very bright.
“So yes. I am not worried. And I think we’ll have an answer soon. “
Vettel welcomed the news that current Williams driver Russell had received the nod to join Mercedes for the next year as a partner of Lewis Hamilton, and that Albon would be returning to the grid after one season.
“It was an exciting week,” said Vettel.
“It’s nice to see George get the opportunity to move up, nice to see Alex come back. I think he has earned a place in Formula 1 with his talent. “
