Valtteri Bottas was furious at the end of his race in France when the Finnish racing driver warned his race engineer that the race would be a two-stage race, but Mercedes stuck to the one-stop strategy and lost the race to Red Bull.
Despite the result, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff was thrilled with his performance because he understood that P4 with Red Bull’s tactics was a good decision.
“I still think Valtteri drove a good race,” the team principal told Formule1.com. “He was very close to Max and Lewis for most of the race. Tire management is also going in the right direction. “
“There is still a difference between Valtteri and Lewis in that regard, but I am really seeing progress in how Valtteri is handling the races. And we never had any doubts about his qualifying. “

Toto Wolff talks about Bottas leaving Mercedes rumors
Lately, it has been speculated that Botta’s Mercedes would leave after the end of the year and be replaced by Mercedes driving program graduate George Russell.
When asked about Wolff, the Austrian replied that Bottas knew what he had to do this year to fend off these rumors from all the headlines. “Valtteri knows that appearances on the track are the only answer to all these rumors.”
However, Bottas does not seem to have much time with Hamilton and Mercedes, the latter was even accused of not keeping up with the team spirit. The management apparently avoided him on the radio as well.
This signals that Mercedes is ready to implant its own miracle by hiring the British next year
