Red Bull and their title rivals have been embroiled in a bitter battle of words for most of the season, with numerous incidents between Hamilton and Verstappen causing tension in recent months.
And that seemed to have peaked on the last lap of the last race of the season, when Wolff pleaded with race director Michael Masi to reconsider his decision to let the lapped cars pass between Hamilton and Verstappen.
Masi defended the FIA’s decision to have the two compete against each other bluntly: “Toto, that’s called a car race. We drove car races.”
