“The way Red Bull does things is pretty ruthless and inconsiderate” – George Russell has been part of the Mercedes family since he impressed Toto Wolff with a PowerPoint presentation.
George Russell is a star in the motorsport world and he has yet to take the big strides. The big step is of course his move to the Mercedes F1 team next season alongside the reigning champion Lewis Hamilton.

His career at Mercedes began when he won GP3 in 2017 and Formula 2 the following season, both under a Mercedes contract. He has since moved up to Formula 1, admirable for the Mercedes-powered Williams.
Russell is happy that he is part of the “warm” Russell family and not the “unscrupulous” Red Bull family, as he himself admits. And with his incredible talent, he will become a superstar for the Mercedes team.
“I think I’m very pleased with the way Mercedes gave me this opportunity to go out and study.
“Of course Red Bull is quite inconsiderate and inconsiderate at times and that’s why I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to go out and learn, build and develop.
“Every driver dreams of getting into Formula 1 and winning races from day one, but sometimes that doesn’t happen even when you compete against the best in the industry.
“I feel so strong at the moment that I feel mentally strong enough not to be influenced by it, even if I jump in and lose my pace a little. I know I will get there.
“I don’t know when I’ll get there, but I think I’m mature and old enough now to deal with it, whereas I probably wouldn’t have been a year or two ago.”
