Checo secured a front row start for the team in Imola and won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with Red Bull. But apart from these accomplishments, Perez has largely lagged behind Verstappen and Hamilton.

The Mexican driver hopes to improve in the second half of 2021
Although Perez has been consistent in his performance at Red Bull, the Mexican is hoping to have more influence in the second half of the 2021 season. Perez was often mixed up in the midfield battles in some races that influenced both his and Red Bull’s racing strategy.
“The more information I get, the more natural everything will be in the car,” said Perez.

“It’s not entirely natural at the moment, but I’ll make it. I think I’ll make it into the second half of this season and I’ll be pretty strong.
I think that as a team I will get stronger and stronger, ”said Checo.

As reported by TR. Motorsport evaluated Checo during the off-season break when he started at Red Bull and talked about the challenges he is facing. He mentioned that sometimes he feels like he’s switched to a different category with Red Bull.
“The way this car achieves the maximum lap time and tackles the smog, the pace of the races is very different from what I was used to in the past,” said Checo.

“You see the tires differently. The requirements for rim heating and cooling are different for every car. There are very specific details as everything is related to the tires.

So, to be honest, I’m in a different world. To be honest, it’s like I’ve switched to a different category. That’s a different category, ”said Perez.
