Details about Schumacher’s condition are closely guarded by the family and the 52-year-old has not been seen in public since his severe head injury in a skiing accident in December 2013.
However, in an upcoming Netflix documentary about Schumacher’s legendary F1 career, Corinna shared an update on her husband’s rehabilitation.
“Michael is here. Different, but he’s here, ”she says in the documentary. “That gives us strength, I think. He still shows me how strong he is every day.
“We live together at home, we do therapies. We do everything to make Michael better and to make sure that he feels comfortable and that he simply feels our family, our connection.

“And no matter what, I’ll do everything I can. We all will. We’re trying to carry on as a family, just as Michael liked and still does. And we move on with our lives.
“‘Private is private’ as he always said. It is very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael has always protected us, and now we protect Michael.”

After Schumacher had won his first two world championships for Benneton in 1994 and 1995, he won another five world championship titles with Ferrari between 2000 and 2004.
The German retired in late 2006 but returned to Mercedes for another three seasons in 2010 before finally hanging up his helmet in 2012.
“We always got through his races safely,” added Corinna. “So I was sure he had a couple of Guardian Angels looking out for him.
“I don’t know if it’s just some kind of protective wall that you’re building yourself or if you’re kind of naive, but it just never crossed my mind that anything could ever happen to Michael.
“I never blamed God for why this happened now. [The accident] was just really bad luck, all the bad luck someone can have in their life. “
