In addition to participating in Extreme E’s Legacy Projects, which aim to promote the local environment where each lap takes place, Rosberg X Racing has launched its own campaign.
The team, started as a “Driven by Purpose” program, planted over 100 trees on the pre-season test site in Motorland Aragon, Spain, before signing up for a gender-oriented project for the maiden round in AlUla, Saudi Arabia.
In Senegal, the team partnered with Little Sun to donate 180 solar-powered reading lamps to schools.
Rosberg X Racing, now recognized as a Netto Carbon Zero outfit, has joined the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework and will work with sports organizations to support action against the climate crisis.
Autosport’s youngest guest columnist, Rosberg, wrote, “I see motorsport and the mobility industry in general as an ecosystem where every aspect can help drive positive change, from the sustainable solutions it develops to the role who he helps educate people about the threats posed by climate change and how to combat it.
“Innovation, racing and education together is how we can make a difference.”
The Sports for Climate Action Framework, derived from the Paris Agreement of 2015, works to promote more responsibility for the environment through education and communication.

Rosberg X Racing is joining Extreme E and over 240 other participants have currently joined the framework.
Rosberg added, “I am proud to lead a team that continues to focus on sustainability and we look forward to working with our partners as a leader in the fight against climate change and in the world Stand up for diversity and equality. “
Former Mercedes Formula 1 driver Rosberg will also be a guest speaker at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow in November.
The timing of this COP26 meeting is being used to urge Extreme E to hold a round in the Outer Hebrides this season to fill in the Brazil and Argentina rounds, which have been canceled due to the ongoing global health crisis.
This context also served as the basis for Prince William to drive the standardized E-SUV Odyssey 21 in Knockhill earlier this year.
