In an old interview from 2013, Horner told the Woking-based constructors that Hamilton’s move was a big blow to them. He said, “I think McLaren is a weaker team without Lewis. I think McLaren would admit that. Lewis is an outstanding driver and in Lewis and Jenson they had a hugely strong driver line-up.”
While many doubted his move to Mercedes, the 37-year-old has proved his doubters wrong by winning 6 championships with the Brackley-based team.
Lewis also recently completed 200 races with Mercedes. Furthermore, he became the first driver to drive in as many races for a single team.
