“From there we will further develop and update the car in Bahrain.”
That means that the RB18 fans will see on February 9 won’t necessarily be the exact same design as the one which takes to the track at the first race in Sakhir on March 20.
The reveal event, Marko says, will be more for fans and sponsors to see the livery and will not give away any details of their actual race design to rivals.
Changing from a successful strategy in 2021 back to their old timescale seems an odd decision in isolation but, as Marko explains, there is a reason for their deliberate tardiness.
“The rules remained the same last year, so we could have the car ready much earlier,” the long-serving adviser added.
