According to reports, the Mercedes-AMG Project One should finally go into production in the middle of next year. The car-to-be has seen several delays due to challenges encountered in adapting a Formula 1-derived hybrid powertrain for the road.
Mercedes presented its hyper prototype for the first time in 2017 as Project One Concept at the IAA in Frankfurt. Recently, all the signs pointed to the fact that the street-legal concept car was about to become real when the company shared a series of pictures on Instagram.
Among the pictures, many were torn apart while others offered a close look at some of the AMG-One’s exterior features. While none of the posts contain revolutionary information, each photo post has a different description to remind you that Mercedes’s upcoming hypercar will feature Formula 1-inspired technology, including hybrid systems.
Much to everyone’s annoyance, none of the posts reveal the image under the skin, but they are clear enough to reveal the aggressive demeanor and active aero components. Like the massive central back, which is at the same time a pure function and one of its main features. Ventilation slots in the wheel arches, among other things towards the rear wing.

The wild outer shape of the One is complemented by a 1.6-liter V6 engine under the hood. It was adapted from the Mercedes F1 W06 Hybrid Racer, which rotates up to 11,000 rpm. While the company hasn’t released any actual performance metrics, reports suggest it is capable of stretching over 1,000 horsepower. It’s also reported that, despite challenges, the One will be among the fastest, handiest, street-legal cars ever built.
Unfortunately, at a whopping $ 3 million and limited edition run of just 275 units, driving the Mercedes AMG-One is out of reach for many waiting to get their hands on it.
