As the opening round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship Looms, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team driver Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas say they are ‘excited’ and ‘ready to go’ when the lights go out Bahrain.
The reigning world champions have their machines on the market for 2021 ahead of pre-season testing in just over a week, and the team is hoping to replicate the same dominant form it has shown in recent years.
Now seven-time champion and knight of the British empire, Hamilton is fighting for the same success in what is supposedly his last season in Formula 1. After signing a one-year contract in February StevenageThe born racing driver says he has been preparing for an exciting season all winter.
“The day a new car is launched is always very exciting,” said Lewis. “It’s great to show the world the result of everyone’s hard work in the factories and to see some of my teammates in person, which has been so rare over the past year.”
“I’ve been in contact with the engineers all winter, watching their preparations as I prepare for the coming season. The excitement keeps growing, so I can’t wait to hit the track in the W12. “
The 2020 runner-up, Valtteri Bottas, would like to wear the masterful overall again. The Finn replied to Lewis’ delight in witnessing the W12 start first hand, citing that he was “happy to be back with the German brand”.
“Of course we weren’t able to visit the plant often last year, so first of all I’m happy to be back here and see the new car in person for the first time,” said Bottas.
“I get regular updates on the progress of things so it’s nice to see the end result up close now and that just makes me even more prepared for the new season. The cars are pretty similar to last year’s, but there are some interesting aerodynamic changes that will affect the car’s driveability and performance. So I’m looking forward to seeing how it feels on the track in Bahrain. ”
With both drivers expecting their contracts to be terminated after the season ends, 2021 will likely be the last year we’ll see a Hamilton-Bottas partnership in Formula 1, and possibly the last season that either of the two will be in that sport overall will compete. Given the stiff competition between the two, fans can expect an exciting and compelling climax that could mark the end of an era.
