Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff gave an emphatic answer to the best driver in Formula 1. He commented on the sport’s ‘GOAT’ debate after Lewis Hamilton reached another milestone with his 100th race win.

The seven-time world champion celebrated a century of victories at the Russian Grand Prix last weekend, making him the first ever F1 driver.

Hamilton took advantage of Lando Norris’ late distress in Sochi to drive to victory after the McLaren driver strayed off the track in the sudden downpour that wreaked havoc for everyone.

Hamilton has made a lot of history since his first World Cup triumph in 2008, emulating and surpassing the exploits of legendary German driver Michael Schumacher.

He’s tied for seven world titles with Schumacher, but the Brit holds the record for the most wins (100), pole positions (101) and podium places (176) within the sport.

“I think these records speak for themselves. He’s just the best there has ever been. “

Wolff has overseen seven world championship titles in a row at Mercedes and led Hamilton to six of them.

Hamilton had to work hard for his 100th race win after starting fourth after a rather disastrous qualifying for the Russian Grand Prix.

But he made his move down the Sochi route before having to be patient behind Norris while his eyes on a dramatic win.

Norris held onto the front with only laps left but the rain soon began to devastate and many riders lost grip.

Young McLaren star Norris decided to weather the storm and stay on the track, but Hamilton and his Mercedes team opted for the pit lane, which paid off when the race leader finally slipped off the track and allowed his compatriot to storm past and to achieve victory.

Hamilton will now have his 101st race win in mind when the F1 circuit drives to Turkey next weekend.

Hamilton is currently just two points ahead of Red Bulls Verstappen in the title race. There are only seven races left in the 2021 calendar.

The title race has been wowing fans all along, and you can expect more of it this weekend in Istanbul.
