Max Verstappen has revealed the stance he believes Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton should avoid entering the 2022 F1 season.

The 24-year-old defeated Hamilton on the last lap of the last race of the season and won his first world title.

Max Verstappen said his Red Bull team worked “hard” during the 2021 season. When asked if losing 2021 will make Mercedes come back like an injured animal next season, he said:

“I don’t work like that because then you generally have the wrong attitude. If it makes you work harder, you are not working hard enough beforehand. I think we always work hard as a team – regardless of whether you lose or win. “

Then Verstappen added:

“I don’t know how they (Mercedes) work. At least I know from experience that if I lose, I wouldn’t work harder because I’m already working the same thing whether I win or not. “

Verstappen also hopes to have a few more years fighting Lewis Hamilton. The Dutchman hopes the seven-time world champion won’t retire anytime soon.

Max Verstappen’s bad luck kept the 2021 F1 title challenge interesting, says Jolyon Palmer

The fight for the F1 World Championship 2021 between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton went to the core. It was literally the final lap of the ultimate race.

Former Formula 1 driver Jolyon Palmer believes that the fight for the title wouldn’t have been nearly as interesting without Verstappen’s bad luck.

In his column on F1.com, Palmer wrote:

“Without bad luck in Baku and Budapest and a collision at Silverstone, then he (Max Verstappen) would have sewn up the championship before the last lap at Yas Marina. Fortunately for us, he didn’t do that and the drama went to the core. “

Verstappen was on course for victory at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix before crashing into the wall on lap 47 after a punctured rear tire. The Dutchman was also hit by a car accident with several cars on the first lap on the Hungaroring through no fault of his own.

His serious fall on the first lap of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone was the result of a wheel-to-wheel race with Lewis Hamilton.

Despite this streak of bad luck, Max Verstappen shone on the final lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix when he needed it the most.
