Verstappen won the Belgian Grand Prix at the weekend under dramatic circumstances and secured victory over a two-lap race behind a safety car when the rain severely disrupted the course of Spa-Francorchamps. It was a disappointing end to an action-packed weekend and the aftermath spilled over into the week.
Mercedes’ current championship leader and seven-time world champion Hamilton was one of many to resent the final result, claiming fans had been “robbed” and wondering why the race had even started.
“They stood out there in the rain for hours, no cover on the stands – I think there might be in the pit stands – but cold and wet and above all the children.
“More importantly, they had to spend so much money on travel and accommodation and then they didn’t get a race. Too bad and I’m a bit confused as to why they restarted the race because there was no change in the weather between the two hours when they stopped us for the first time to the last time.
“I feel like the fans were stolen from a race today and I think they should probably get their money back.”

This means that Hamilton now has only three points ahead of the top of the leaderboard – and the title race between the Red Bull and Mercedes stars is going to be hot.
The duo will renew their exciting rivalry at the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend, with the race taking place at 2pm.
Both drivers and fans will be desperately looking for a full race this time around after the Belgian GP ended in an anti-climax.
