Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez poked fun at the penalty Verstappen received for touching Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes in Brazil.

In a video published on the official Red Bull channel, the two Red Bull teammates exchanged gifts for Christmas. One of Perez’s gifts to Verstappen was a handheld telescope. In a note on the present, Perez wrote:

“My next gift to you isn’t so much the item itself. But how much will this item save you money in the long run? I know you’d like to inspect your competitors’ setups, but touching their car can be expensive. “” So please use this gift to spy in the future and it could save you some money. “

Max Verstappen seemed amused by the gift and thanked Perez for his attention. Then he used the binoculars and mockingly said that he could see a “flexible rear wing”.

At the 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix, Verstappen was caught on video touching the rear wing of Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes after qualifying. While it is quite common in Formula 1 for rivals to inspect each other’s cars, the Dutchman’s actions were seen as a violation of Parc Fermé conditions.

Hamilton’s car later failed the FIA test in connection with the rear wing and was therefore disqualified from qualifying. Mercedes accused Max Verstappen of manipulating the wing, for which the stewards imposed a fine of 50,000 euros on the Red Bull driver.

Max Verstappen says he would stop driving in Formula 1 if his race engineer quit the sport

Max Verstappen has claimed he would be leaving Formula 1 if his race engineer at Red Bull Gianpiero Lambiase left.

In an interview with Ziggo Sport, the newly crowned F1 world champion said:

“I told him that I only work with him. As soon as he stops, I stop too. ”“ Of course we can be pretty strict with each other sometimes, but I want that too. He has to tell me if I’m an idiot and I have to tell him. I always told him that. ”“ He can tell me that on the radio, but it’s been going really well lately. For the past few years I’ve tried to be the engineer and he tried to be the driver. ”But can we please give Gianpiero Lambiase a big compliment … this man has been with Max since 2016 in Spain. He kept our boy calm? and led him through a difficult season. We love and appreciate you GP @redbullracing“/> But can we please give Gianpiero Lambiase a big compliment … this man has been at Max’s side since Spain 2016. He kept our boy calm and guided him through a tough season. We love and appreciate you GP

Lambiase, affectionately known as GP, has been working with Max Verstappen since his debut for Red Bull in mid-2016. Similar to Lewis Hamilton and Peter “Bono” Bonnington at Mercedes, Verstappen and GP have a solid relationship.

Interestingly, before joining Red Bull, Lambiase worked at Force India (now Aston Martin) as Sergio Perez’s race engineer.
