Mercedes boss hopes that the “robbed” Lewis Hamilton will continue to drive
Lewis Hamilton’s brother has claimed the British Formula One icon has taken a hiatus from social media due to its toxicity as he continues to overcome the grief of his last-minute title defeat.
The Mercedes star did not say a word on social media after losing the F1 title to arch-rival Max Verstappen after he was denied the record-breaking eighth world title under controversial circumstances at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Hamilton was heading for an unprecedented eighth world title – 11 seconds ahead of Verstappen, before Nicholas Latifi’s fall changed the entire landscape of the race.
The safety car was then called out before controversy arose – after a change of heart, FIA race director Michael Masi let the five cars between Hamilton and Verstappen pass and round off.

This meant Verstappen was hot on his heels ahead of a final lap shooting that the Red Bull ace won after changing tires after the crash.
Rainfall continues to rumble to this day, and there is even speculation that Hamilton could step down dramatically while the Briton remained silent after the title despair.
Hamilton has since unfollowed everyone on his Instagram page, and now his younger brother Nicolas has revealed why the seven-time world champion decided to step away from social media.
Legend Niki Lauda “would not have allowed” the feud between Red Bull and Mercedes to escalate Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, who can both be beaten in the same car, explains Carlos Sainz
“I think he’s just having a little social media break that I can’t blame him for,” Nicolas told fans during an exchange on the Twitch streaming platform.
“Social media can be a very toxic place. But it’s cool. It’s fine.”
Nicolas’s comments come just days after Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff spoke about his driver’s silence on social media.
“We all fluctuate in emotions and Lewis in particular,” he told Motorsport-total.com.

“He won the world championship to the last lap and then a second takes everything away from you” [to the next].
“Of course you lose faith because you can’t understand what just happened.
“The silence is there, of course, because he simply has no words.”
