Mercedes F1 has released an update on Lewis Hamilton’s health after the British driver complained of dizziness and blurred vision after a long and exhausting Hungarian Grand Prix. Hamilton also visited the Mercedes F1 doctor after the race, claiming he had a long history of COVID. The reigning driver’s champion took a fantastic third place in Hungary, although he was last in the meantime.
According to Mercedes F1, Lewis Hamilton is recovering well from a physically demanding Hungarian Grand Prix and is expected to “come back really strong” when the F1 season resumes in Belgium. During the team’s post-race debriefing, Technical Director Mike Elliott said, “I saw him about an hour later and he was definitely a bit better and I know he has since recovered.” Meanwhile, after the Hungarian GP race, Hamilton had said he believed he may have been suffering from prolonged COVID because he had added “degrees of fatigue”.
Similarly, Elliot also elaborated on what he believed was the cause of Hamilton’s fatigue. Elliot said, “I suspect it was 40, 50 degrees air during the race, it was humid. Lewis really pushed that two-stop forward, some of the overtaking maneuvers he did were absolutely brilliant. It takes a lot. ” Energy from you in this really hot environment. The average person like you and I wouldn’t survive five minutes in there, let alone a whole race. So it wasn’t surprising that Lewis was tired in the end. but as he told the media, I think he also wonders whether that is part of the feeling of having COVID. “
