Lewis Hamilton

Hamilton’s story is really inspiring. He came from a modest background and made it to the top of Formula 1; almost.

Lewis Hamilton is the most marketable face of Formula 1 and has been for many years.

By the end of the current season, Hamilton will have made $ 82 million; he will receive $ 70 million in salary and bonuses. In addition, the 36-year-old has advertising revenue of around $ 12 million per year. It is sponsored by Tommy Hilfiger, Sony, Police, Puma and Monster Energy.

The Briton has an estimated net worth of $ 285 million. Hamilton has made an estimated $ 500 million over the course of his career.

Lewis Hamilton still has time to overtake Max Verstappen in the Formula 1 classification; With or without a championship bonus, however, he is guaranteed to lead the Formula 1 race, as he has done every year since 2014 https://t.co/n0CzklnrmB pic.twitter.com/cMJitvkqQt

Michael sSchumacher

The greatest success in Michael Schumacher’s career is not his records, which the German himself admittedly paid little attention to. It’s the fact that his name is synonymous with Formula 1; he was Formula 1 for a whole generation.

And marketing executives were very aware of this. In his heyday, Schumacher made an estimated $ 80 to 100 million a year. In 1999 he was the highest paid athlete in the world.

The Formula 1 legend has an estimated net worth of $ 600 million and despite a head injury that resulted in a coma in 2013, he still reportedly makes $ 50 million a year. But what is really amazing is the money he’s made in his career – a mammoth $ 1.13 billion.

Fun fact: Michael Schumacher was allegedly one of the first billionaires in sport and thus one of the richest athletes of all time.

Hamilton and Alonso are likely the only current drivers to make over $ 50,000,000, but $ 1 billion in revenue may never be touched by a driver again. pic.twitter.com/O9m8ytE8sb

Hamilton vs. Schumacher – verdict

Although Hamilton came close to and even surpassed Schumacher in many of his records, Mercedes driver may never overtake Michael Schumacher in terms of revenue and wealth.

An active Hamilton’s net worth isn’t even half that of a retired Schumacher, but if the current Mercedes driver wins his eighth title, he could set out to surpass Schumacher’s legacy and bank balance.
