Lewis Hamilton supports his Extreme E-rider Cristina Gutierrez after her terrible injury

Last year Lewis Hamilton announced the creation of an Extreme-E team, X44. Hamilton has drivers Cristina Gutierrez and Sebastien Loeb as part of his team. Almost three weeks ago Gutierrez started as part of the Red Bull Offroad Junior Team in the Kazakhstan Rally. She and her team-mate Francois Cazalet won the race. However, she suffered a huge impact during the race, breaking two vertebrae and crossing the finish line in great pain.

In a recently published Instagram post, she informed her followers about her health. What is X44 – Lewis Hamilton’s idea?

Lewis Hamilton envisioned the team as a call to change. He understands the current environmental crisis and wants to pursue something that excites him while sticking to his principles. Hamilton created x44, named after its car number, to provide opportunities for drivers while highlighting the planet’s problems.

He won’t be behind the wheel because he’s a part of Formula 1, but he wants to use his role as a founder to put his knowledge into practice and build a competitive team.

Who is Cristina Gutiérrez?

Extreme E requires that a team consists of a driver and a driver. Hamilton’s pick for the latter is the extremely talented Gutierrez. She has had many successes, including being the second woman to win a stage in the Dakar Rally. The dentist has been an off-road champion in her country since 2012.

In December 2020, she was announced as part of Hamilton’s team in Extreme E.

Since the environmental crisis has become a growing problem, even Formula 1 wants to become more sustainable. Since he has no control over the progress of the sport he participates in, Hamilton uses his knowledge elsewhere. Extreme E gives him the opportunity to do so.
