Mercedes superstar Lewis Hamilton took to social media to post an inspiring throwback image of himself as a young boy rocking sunglasses.
It’s hardly been a dream campaign for Hamilton, whose hopes of securing a historic eighth world championship are fading fast. The Brit, who is level with Michael Schumacher on seven titles, finds himself lying sixth in the Drivers’ Standing s – almost 70 points behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who leads the championship – following disappointing P10 and P13 finishes in Saudi Arabia and Imola.
However, it appears the stresses and frustrations that have come in 2022 have been put to one side for now. Hamilton was seen at a Saturday Night Live after party in New York City last weekend, where he reportedly partied with Selena Gomez and Cara Delevingne.

Hamilton is also taking it easy on social media, as the 37-year-old posted the image of a young go-karting star looking straight at the camera in a pair of dark sunglasses. It is next to a current image of the Brit, who is donning his Mercedes racing overalls along with his own pair of shades.
“At the end of the day, still that same kid,” the accompanying caption read. Hamilton’s fans clearly enjoyed the throwback image, with just under 750,000 people liking the post.
Hamilton has clearly not needed to change from his youth, where he became the youngest driver to ever win the British karting championship at the age of 10. Since then, Hamilton has claimed seven world titles as well as the most pole positions and race wins in F1 history.
He will need to be at his best if he is to have any hope of even winning races in 2022, let alone securing the record eighth world title. Mercedes have struggled with severe porpoising this season, and neither Hamilton nor teammate George Russell have been able to truly compete with the likes of Ferrari and Red Bull.

Do you think Lewis Hamilton will win a race in 2022? Let us know in the comments section.
It appeared Mercedes had cracked the issue ahead of the inaugural Miami Grand Prix, with Russell securing fifth and Hamilton claiming sixth. Russell has fared slightly better than his iconic partner, and is the only driver to finish in the top five of each of the first five races of 2022 to find himself 23 points clear of Hamilton.
Hamilton will be hopeful of securing his second podium finish of the season in Spain this weekend, although he is reportedly ‘astonished’ after rumors emerged linking controversial former race director Michael Masi with a return to F1. The Australian was at the center of the saga following the dramatic championship finale in Abu Dhabi, which saw Red Bull’s Max Verstappen secure a stunning maiden title.
The 22-race F1 2022 campaign – which is expected to return to a record 23 races in the near future once a Russian Grand Prix replacement is found – continues with the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona on May 22.
