Lewis Hamilton is a seven-time Formula One world champion. He won his first world title in 2008, which was his second year in the sport. He is currently fighting for his 8th world title with Max Verstappen.

But Hamilton has stated that he had no structure or leadership in his World Cup challenge. He described reliving his championship year 2008 was terrible.

My first title? It was horrific: Lewis Hamilton
As reported by Sky Sports, the Mercedes driver mentioned that the trip to the championship was terrible and not fun. He also said that at the time he didn’t know how to handle the curveballs.
“My first title? It was terrible. The trip was horrible, but he’s what, for six years? I was in my sophomore year, ”said Lewis.

“I didn’t have a great leadership structure around me, I didn’t have any help dealing with all those curve balls that were being sent at me. I didn’t have the whole experience, I didn’t have all the tools – except the ones in the car.
But I learned all of these other tools, to be a great teammate, to work with a group of people and help them improve, and all of those things. What was different for me then, ”said Hamilton.

But the then Mclaren driver concluded by saying that he is grateful for these moments and that he appreciates them very much.
“I am grateful that I have had the experience. I know how to build my team, I know how to win with my team and I know how to enjoy the ups and downs with my team, ”said Lewis.
It’s nice to hear Hamilton’s comments after all these years and shows how important good management is to the driver.
