The Mercedes F1 racing driver and seven-time winner of the driver’s world championship title Lewis Hamilton praised Mercedes and praised its 24-year association with the German giants. The Brit touched multiple aspects – from performing cars to diversity in sport – before mentioning the company’s hybrid and electric cars in a tweet of his official handle.

Hamilton has a long association with Mercedes and although he drove for McLaren between 2007 and 2012, he would get a place on the Mercedes F1 team in 2013 and has been at the forefront of motorsport ever since. “I am proud to have been with @MercedesAMG for 24 years – a leader in the world of luxury cars; the fastest + most technically advanced, ”he wrote on the microblogging site. “Together we urge to get better in every respect, most recently for more inclusion + diversity in our sport. We are pleased that you see hybrid / electric cars.”

Considered one of the richest athletes in the world, Hamilton has rarely held back with words on matters close to him. In the past he has called for more diversity in Formula 1 and at the same time supported the “Black Lives Matter” movement. He even announced that he had been a victim of racial abuse during his formative years. He was recently subjected to racial abuse online.

All of this barely affected Hamilton’s focus on excelling in his field.

The 36-year-old was also an important part of the Mercedes AMG Project One, which is about a hypercar with hybrid technology. In his tweet above, he makes it a point to give special mention to hybrid and electric vehicles from the Mercedes warehouse.

Mercedes recently announced it would become an all-electric brand by 2030. According to its EV roadmap, Mercedes intends to have battery electric vehicles in all segments that the company serves by the next few years. It is therefore possible that Hamilton’s vast experience and expertise with high-performance vehicles will also be used.
