In the first sprint race of the weekend, the Prema driver took a remarkable pole position in the reverse grid and recovered from 30th place on the grid to 12th place.
Leclerc remained unchallenged in Turn 1 after Hitech’s Jak Crawford – who started the race from the second – stalled at the start and fell back to the bottom of the field.
With Crawford declining the order, Leclerc led Prema teammates Olli Caldwell and Dennis Hauger.
Hauger passed Caldwell in turn 8 on lap 8 in second, but failed to beat Leclerc, who emerged as a comfortable winner.
