Former F1 team boss Colin Kolles calls Toto Wolff the “lap dog” of Lawrence Stroll and considers the combination of Stroll and Wolff to be “dangerous” for Sebastian Vettel.
Why? He wouldn’t say.
The former F1 team boss who worked in Hispania, as well as the team that is now owned by Stroll and is called Aston Martin, have launched a devastating attack on Mercedes motorsport boss Wolff.
Last year Wolff bought shares in Aston Martin and followed in the footsteps of his good friend Stroll, who runs the consortium that is heavily invested in Aston Martin and bought the Racing Point F1 team.
Wolff quickly denied it was more than a financial investment, saying rumors suggesting otherwise were “total bullshit.”
However, Kolles is not at all satisfied with the partnership between Wolff and Stroll, as he fears what effects this could have on Vettel.
The four-time world champion moved from Ferrari to Aston Martin in the off-season and signed a multi-year contract.
“I am of the opinion that the combination of Stroll / Wolff is a very dangerous combination for Sebastian Vettel,” he told Sport1.de.
“Many factors play a role in the background.”
However, Kolles would not disclose which “factors” in his opinion could hinder the German driver.
He added, “He [Wolff] is the name of Mr. Stroll’s lap dog. That’s a quote from Bernie Ecclestone. “

The former team boss has also downgraded Wolff’s work at Mercedes after the Austrian spoke of his disbelief in the way the Formula 1 team was run when he joined in 2013.
Kolles says it was former team boss Ross Brawn who got the “steamer” in the right direction, not Wolff.
“The structures that Ross Brawn created,” he said. “The team is like a big steamer. If you swap the captain, the steamer goes anyway. The construction work was carried out by Ross Brawn. “
Kolles hinted at why he might have launched his attack on Wolff and appeared to be disappointed in his ex-boyfriend.
“It failed because certain people invent things and then don’t remember them,” he said of the previous friendship between the two. “That is the big problem.
“Mr. Wolff was a business partner of mine and I had him brought into Formula 1 – even if a lot of people don’t want to know about it.”
According to paddock whispers, when Wolff took up the position at Mercedes in 2013, Kolles expected to benefit from his move and take on the role of team principal at Williams, as he had agreed with Wolff.
The job was to be the payment for Kolles, who Wolff introduced in Ecclestone in 2009, while the Austrian is also said to have owed Kolles money.
It never happened, and according to F1 insiders, there was an argument between Wolff and Kolles.
