Mercedes drivers Bottas and Aston Martins Lance Stroll will each lose five places on the grid this weekend from wherever they qualify in Belgium after sparking the first corner slaughter in Hungary that wiped out three other drivers and title favorite Max Verstappen and McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo has damaged.
But Bottas believes Spa is one of the better tracks to take a starting penalty and said he will focus on maximizing his racing pace over the weekend.
“I think the race pace is always very important on this track when you compare it with the qualifying pace,” explained the Finn.
“So we have to concentrate on what we’re doing in training, but don’t forget that I still have to qualify well because I don’t want to start from the top ten, for example.

Stroll was equally unimpressed by the prospect of his impending postponement and insisted that “not really much” changes in how he will approach the weekend.
