Horner is interested in making life difficult for Mercedes after making it "far too easy".

Since the beginning of the V6 hybrid era, only one team has had the F1 championship under control – Mercedes. Since 2014, the Silver Arrows have won seven championship titles in a row, and all of them have been quite a convincing lead. However, 2021 is proving to be a year of change.

Red Bull is resurrected and seems to be giving Mercedes the kind of title fight they haven’t had in a long time. The head of the Austrian team, Christian Horner, certainly believes it is time for Mercedes and Toto Wolff to worry.

Speaking to the New York Times, Horner announced that it was time to end the rule of the Silver Arrows. He said, “Toto has had it way too easy for the past seven years. It’s time he had something to do. “

Red Bull has really started its assault on the crown of the Brackley-based outfit. The team’s lead driver, Max Verstappen, has won twice in the first five races of this season and is currently ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the rankings. More importantly, Red Bull is also ahead of Mercedes in the constructors’ championship, if only by one point.

They have also started preparing for a new era in which they will use Red Bull branded engines. And to step up those efforts, the Austrian team has expertly begun recruiting some top men and women from their direct rivals.

All the plans for Red Bull are in place to end Mercedes F1’s dominance

Between 2010 and 2013, Red Bull was the team that Mercedes is now. They were the best on the grid in every way and dominated the F1 circus. However, that era is long gone. They are now planning to come back to power and so far everything seems to be going according to plan.

As already mentioned, Red Bull are currently fighting for the title again. Off the track, they opened the Red Bull Powertrain department. They’ll be making their own engines starting next year after acquiring Honda’s information. In addition, they have succeeded in recruiting Mercedes’s Ben Hodgkinson as technical director along with five other Mercedes members, more of whom are suspected to follow.

With the new aero rules for 2022, the stars seem to be leaning in favor of the Milton Keynes based outfit so far. Will they dethrone Mercedes and regain their former glory? Only time can tell.
