As the current situation in the drivers’ standings shows, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen and Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton are only separated by 2 points. And let’s not forget that there are seven races left this F1 season. Who wins the crown, who loses it – everything depends on tactics, strategy and a lot of “politics”. Red Bull boss Christian Horner said of the title race that this year’s title fight was “much more political” than her previous title fights with Ferrari and McLaren.

Just a few days ago, Horner insidiously stated that he loves to dissolve Toto, the Merc boss. For Verstappen it is the first World Cup shot, for Hamilton it is the eighth likely victory. So there is no doubt that Mercedes has a lot to lose, while Red Bull has a lot to gain from it.
The mercury rises on the racetrack, thanks to clashes between Max and Hamilton, who don’t want to leave an inch of space for each other. And in the paddock, Horner and Wolff have their very own fight.

In a conversation with the media, Horner revealed how he feels about this high-profile fight with Mercedes. He said: “When we went up against McLaren for the championship and Lewis drove for them, and when we went up against Ferrari with Fernando Alonso and Stefano Domenicali, the atmosphere was very different from that.
“It felt a lot more political as there is a lot more going on behind the scenes. Toto’s inbox to the FIA, they’ll need a big clearing out by the end of the year.

“Toto has never been in a position where he has been challenged. He inherited a very competitive team from Ross Brawn and he has done a great job keeping that up, but this is the first time he has had such pressure and people react differently to pressure. “

In return, Horner interfered with his own statement. “I was really disappointed to hear that Toto called it a tactical foul,” he said on the subject. “Max is a racing driver and will go for a gap. Both drivers knew how important it is to be ahead and neither wanted to give in. “
