What were you doing when you were ten years old? Well, a certain Lewis Hamilton was out there winning championships. the seven-time F1 world champion has made winning championships his habit. Although apparently, it started as early as 1995.

Hamilton spilled the beans on a story about winning a certain British championship as a 10-year-old in 1995 and detailed meeting and getting autographs of his idols from the F1 racing fraternity. However, there was one racing driver he missed; one that he would’ve really liked to meet.

the Mercedes star narrated, “In ’95, I won the British Championship, and I was only ten. I was the youngest ever to win it. I went to the Autosport Awards, and I went round asking for everyone’s autographs.”

“At ten years old, I didn’t know who was who. Obviously, I knew who Schumacher was, and I knew who Ayrton Senna was. Unfortunately, I missed him by a year, which was quite sad because he’s been someone I looked up to ever since I was young,” added Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton’s birth mother, Carmen, revealed, “He was kart-racing the weekend Ayrton Senna died. The news came through and he was really upset, bless him, but Senna’s death didn’t sway him. I knew early on that his passion was so big that nothing would stop him.”
