Lewis Hamilton will continue to wear his rainbow helmet livery that supports LGBTQ + community in the final Formula 1 races in 2021, which will be held in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi.

Hamilton unveiled the new design ahead of the race this weekend in Qatar, where Losail International Circuit is hosting its first ever F1 race.

After testing the design in practice and in qualifying, Hamilton said he intends to use it for the remainder of the season – as F1 concludes the 2021 campaign with a trio of races in the Middle East and in countries that set records in Relating to human rights, the Amnesty International labels “extremely worrying”.

When asked by Motorsport.com whether he would wear the rainbow design in Saudi Arabia after the Qatar event, Hamilton replied, “I will probably be using the same helmet in the last two races after that, or at least next week.” Even.

“But I am not aware that anyone has commented on it or given negative feedback.

“On the back it says, ‘We stand together’ and ‘Love is love,’ and it is important to me to represent this community here as I know that there are several situations that are not perfect and need to be highlighted.

“But I hope that someone will get in touch and I would like to know what is happening here and what you are doing to support this community more – the LGBTQ + community. I’m waiting to hear. “

Hamilton said during the pre-event press conference in Qatar that sports organizations visiting countries with poor human rights scores should raise issues such as human rights issues.

The Mercedes driver said: “I think since these sports are going to these places, they have an obligation to raise awareness about these issues.

“These places need to be studied carefully and it takes the media to talk about these things. Equality is a serious issue.”

In early 2021, Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel wore a rainbow t-shirt to show solidarity with the LGBTQ + community in Hungary and has also changed his helmet paintwork at events this season to include the rainbow.

The German driver also used the rainbow colors on his helmet at the Turkish GP and the first Bahrain race last season.

Hamilton will start the first Qatar Grand Prix from pole position after beating Max Verstappen’s Red Bull’s Red Bull by a whopping 0.455 seconds in Saturday’s night session on the Losail circuit.
