Hamilton confident Mercedes can convert Sprint win

Hamilton confident Mercedes can convert Sprint win

Lewis Hamilton is confident Mercedes can convert their Sprint race victory into a Grand Prix win.

George Russell took the Saturday Sprint victory with Carlos Sainz in second and Hamilton third.

However, a five-place grid drop for Carlos Sainz means Hamilton will move up to the front row of the grid.

In an action-packed Sprint Race Hamilton managed to move up from P8 and believes that they could hold off the challenge from Red Bull.

“Difficult day yesterday but what a crowd we’ve had today, starting from 8th and making my way through slowly.

“Congrats to George this is, for everyone back at the factory working hard this is an amazing result.

“So from there we should be able to work as a team and hold off the guys behind.

“We’re going to try as hard as we can, if we can have some degradation tomorrow and hope for some good weather, we will have a good fight on our hands.”

Hamilton under investigation for grid infringement

Hamilton is under investigation from the stewards for a grid infringement before the start of the Sprint along with Zhou Guanyu and Daniel Ricciardo.

The Mercedes driver appeared to park behind the yellow line on the grid box, which determines whether the driver hasn’t jumped their grid slot.
