“Go Hol Some Therapy” – Former F1 champion hits fans, according to Latifi

"Go Hol Some Therapy" - Former F1 champion hits fans, according to Latifi

Nicholas Latifi suffered a rather minor crash at the 2021 season finale in Abu Dhabi, which unfortunately had an indirect effect on the result of the championship itself. Nobody saw it coming, and so did the Canadian F1 driver.

He was in the middle of a position fight against Mick Schumacher, but ran far from the track and collected rubber. And a few bends later, the handleless tires caused Latifi to sail into the crash barriers. It was an innocent mistake, of course, and what followed was a mere accident.

Unfortunately, in some eyes, the incident looked kind of deliberate as the Williams driver got caught in the drain of name-calling. Latifi was faced with an insane amount of hate speech, mostly from the fans who had bet Lewis Hamilton would win the race.

Indeed, it was a shame that Latifi, who had next to nothing to do with the controversial outcome in Abu Dhabi, had to endure such contradictions. Nobody knew this was happening until Latifi posted the statement on his official blog a few days ago.

Damon Hill supports F1 driver Nicholas Latifi

Since Latifi posted the massive declaration of his absence on social media, there has been massive support from the entire racing community. It all started with Mercedes, followed by Lewis Hamilton, who was also hardly present on social media and only celebrated his comeback to speak for the Canadian.

Now former F1 world champion Damon Hill is the newest member of the ‘Latifi Support’ club. The Brit took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the unpleasant Latifi incident.

“That someone has to endure this abuse is a shame. If you are angry because you did not get the result you wanted, you do not understand the point of the sport. Go get therapy. And a Merry Christmas, ”Hill wrote in his story.

Hill knows the pain of losing a championship, because he, too, experienced a similar moment as Hamilton in 1994 when he drove for the title against Michael Schumacher. The German crashed in Hill, took both out of the last race of the season and left Schumacher the decisive extra point to win the championship trophy.

In 1996, however, he returned stronger to win the title against the same rival. Can Hamilton make a similar comeback against Max Verstappen in 2022?
