Formula 1 | Hamilton: It’s epic to prepare an F1 film with Brad Pitt

Hamilton: It

Lewis Hamilton reveals having experienced an “epic experience” alongside Brad Bitt while working on a new Hollywood film about Formula 1.

The seven-time world champion will produce an Apple film whose title is not yet known. The project will be helmed by Joseph Kosinski (who most recently helmed Top Gun: Maverick) and blockbuster producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

For his part, Brad Pitt will play the role of a « famous driver who comes out of retirement to race alongside a rookie who takes on the titans of the sport. »

Hamilton, who won’t appear in the film, was spotted alongside Bruckheimer in Los Angeles last week. He then revealed this weekend to have started writing the screenplay for the film, although he was mainly present in Hollywood to attend the shooting of Eddie Murphy’s latest film.

“We’re still writing the script,” said the Mercedes F1 driver in Singapore.

« In Los Angeles, not on this trip but on the previous one, I visited Jerry’s office and it was epic to sit next to Brad and talk about the project and the plot, it was an epic experience. »

« This time around I just hung out with Jerry on set of another movie, Eddie Murphy, which was very, very cool. I’m a huge Eddie Murphy fan and II had the chance to meet him. »

“Being able to get to work while spending time with these people has allowed me to learn a lot about this industry and these challenges, and I have been able to see how they work to produce films that we have all loved over the course of our life. »

« I was able to hang out with the people who worked on John Wick, they are currently filming John Wick 4, so I had conversations and was trying to learn as much as I could from all these talented people. »

Hamilton went on to detail what impresses him the most about the film industry.

« We walk into a movie theater not understanding all the work that goes on behind the scenes, how much preparation there is and the size of the crew to do all of this. »

« They have similar issues with diversity, for example behind the camera. I’m impressed to see some steps taken by companies like Disney. »

« They really push for diversity, have a lot of female executives in their companies and you see the next Ariel movie is getting reactions from the kids, ‘Look, she’s the same color as me.’ »

« There is a work in progress in this industry and there is so much to learn from these people who have been the greatest. I haven’t met Steven Spielberg yet, hopefully one day! »
