Formula 1 expert predicts an overwhelming partnership between Ricciardo-Russell and Hamilton Director at Mercedes

Formula 1 expert predicts an overwhelming partnership between Ricciardo-Russell and Hamilton Director at Mercedes

Favorite Formula 1 presenter Will Buxton shared his thoughts on the 2025 starting field and the article is interesting read. After giving free rein to his imagination, Buxton made a forecast for the starting line-up in four years – including new contracts, new Formula 1 regulations and of course the new car.

Buxton’s future of Mercedes is the most striking. Aside from saying that “I missed the 2021 World Cup …”, he envisions Daniel Ricciardo and George Russell in the 2025 Silver Arrows.

As a step in his picture book, Buxton wrote a dramatic story for Mercedes. In 2022, “Lewis Hamilton, now a partner of George Russell, will win his eighth World Championship and announce that he is retiring from racing.”

Buxton, of course, did not let the team’s hero dry; Lewis Hamilton would begin a career as Mercedes sports director.

After the champion left his team, they would find a replacement in Sergio Perez, but to no avail. “Mercedes is offering Sergio Perez a lifeline for 2023 but they drop to fourth place in the championship.”

Buxton added an interesting twist to his story, as he said: “They are replacing Perez after one season with Daniel Ricciardo on a multi-year contract starting in 2024 and having steadily moved up to third at the end of the season, Daniel and George are hopeful Year 2025. ” to win the world championship. “

A better future for the Aussie at the Silver Arrows, it seems.

Buxton’s F1 glass ball – a possibility?

Can Buxton’s vision of the future ever be possible? As happy as it is for Hamilton, Ricciardo and Russell, will the 2025 season be as perfect?

Hamilton’s year looks pretty well written. If Verstappen takes the ’21 trophy, Hamilton will undoubtedly fight hard in 2022. A good option, but that’s when Hamilton overlooks his latest contract renewal – and puts him in Brackley overalls through 2023.

Regardless of when Hamilton retires, Buxton’s statement about his new post, “… emulating his great friend Niki Lauda and intending to take the reins of Toto Wolff one day in the near future,” is almost possible. Nobody knows Mercedes like Hamilton and it would fit perfectly.

George Russell’s seat at Mercedes for 2022 would be a dream again. A happy new chapter for the British; it wouldn’t be the craziest idea to see it in the black chassis. But a partnership with Ricciardo? That’s a brilliant plot twist.

Even though Ricciardo was struggling with his current Mercedes engine, would he be successful with the team? A faster can and probably even a better team under Hamilton sounds like the recipe for success. Or is the possibility that Ricciardo is fighting behind a younger teammate that gets in the way of this utopia?

Buxton’s ideas are certainly some food for thought. Although Hamilton as sports director and the Mercedes lineup in 2025 seems like a tempting thought.
