Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel will keep his seat at Aston Martin for 2022

SILVERSTONE, ENGLAND – Sebastian Vettel will drive for Aston Martin next year after the Formula 1 team extended his contract for a year on Thursday.

The four-time F1 champion joined Aston Martin this season on a one-year deal after losing his seat at Ferrari, where he sealed the last of his 53 F1 victories in 2019.

Vettel is 12th in the drivers’ standings with a podium after finishing second in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in June. He finished fifth at the Monaco GP and the Belgian GP.

Vettel will drive alongside Lance Stroll again in 2022.

“Sebastian is also a great asset to our team and we expect both to do well next year,” said Aston Martin team principal Otmar Szafnauer.
