Ferrari sees nothing wrong with Mercedes F1 suspension

Reigning champion Mercedes’ suspension has been in the spotlight in recent days after video analysis showed the rear of the car was falling down the straights at high speed to increase straight-ahead speed.

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner said after the US Grand Prix that the Mercedes system “could be very strong” in the remaining races of the season.

“It will have a bigger impact on some tracks than others,” said Horner. “It was a reduced effect here [in the United States] but somewhere like Jeddah, for example, it could be pretty powerful. “

However, Horner stated that he felt that what Mercedes was doing was within the regulations.

“We don’t think that’s illegal, no,” said Horner. “It’s something that has been used historically. We saw it from them in the past.”

Binotto admitted the Mercedes system wasn’t all that surprising and agreed that despite the attention it has received, it looks legal.

“To be honest, I’m not very interested in this discussion,” said Binotto. “I’m not really following them, I’ve heard about them.

“I don’t see anything wrong or illegal in that. I mean, I’m not even surprised at how the car behaves.”

McLaren boss Andreas Seidl said his team did not pay too much attention to the rear suspension of the Mercedes, but instead concentrated its energy elsewhere.

“To be honest, I only saw heaven yesterday, I believe [TV] Video when the analysis was done, “said Seidl in Austin.” But we haven’t put any energy into this matter yet.

“We have enough to do to just concentrate on ourselves and have a good race weekend.

“So let’s talk a little more about it in a week, after we’ve looked at this as a team. And whether there is actually something behind it or is it just a ghost that is just walking through the paddock. “
